Tyson Homec, GG (Graduate Gemologist) brings his knowledge of international jewelry design to the desert by opening Homec Jewelers in Old Town La Quinta with his brother Colby.
Croatian by descent, American-born Tyson speaks the language fluently having spent considerable time living in the land of his forbears. Tyson enjoys traveling abroad and in his travels he takes time to study gems and jewelry design.
Tyson Homec’s education includes study of Chinese culture and business in Bejin-Xian, China. He pursued studies in history and business in Orem, Utah before being awarded a degree in gemology from the foremost authority on Gemology, the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California.
Tyson worked for several fine jewelers from 2003 through 2007 performing appraisals, grading of gems and other tasks under the title of Staff Gemologist. He is committed to helping his customers make educated diamond buying decisions, and sharing his passion for fine jewelry design.
Colby Homec is a native of Palm Desert, California. His education in entrepreneurial business management was received from Utah Valley University. In the middle of his education, he went on sabbatical to Brazil developing a passion for the study of gemstones and fine jewelry. He also received a Graduate Gemologist degree from the prestigious Gemological Institute of America. Practical application of his degree came from his employment at Tiffany & Co. where he developed his management and customer appreciation skills. Colby’s career ambition is realized through his partnership with his brother Tyson in opening a fine designer jewelry store.
